Four amateur classes will be run the morning of the 2nd annual National Flat Track presented Sept 6th in Monticello NY. The 1st edition was a huge success but ran a bit late with the addition of the Pro Sport & Open Am mains to the night program. This year’s support classes will be run with a 9am start and done by 1:00pm. This will give Monticello track crew plenty of time to fine tune the half mile banked cushion horse track for an excellent evening of Professional racing. The Title Chase is going Down to the Final Round and every race will offer exciting racing to the finish.

The 2nd annual Monticello GNC Flat Track will take place on Sept 6th. The 1st edition was a huge success attracting over 5000 people. Normal with a 1st time event things weren’t all perfect. Even if the Steve Beattie & Buddy Ford crew did an awesome job of promoting Monticello management confirmed they were caught with their pants down with such a huge crowd. They hadn’t witnessed such a crowd since 1984.

‘’We will be ready this year’’ Shawn Wiles GM of Monticello confirmed. Improvements for the 2009 edition include:
  • Additional outdoor restrooms
  • Additional outdoor food vendors
  • A brand new powerful sound system
  • Improved ticketing & will call window
  • Security check for reserved Box seats ticket holders

The track crew has also been working on the track since May with a wider racing surface. They will remove the inside white posts in the corners this will give an additional 10’ and the outside of the crown has been raised so it is now banked compared to off camber in 2008. This will create more passing opportunities for the riders thus a better show for the fans.

AMA GNC Flat Track promoters: Buddy Ford Productions and Steve Beattie would like to announce 2 test and tune days for Monticello NY and Vernon NY on May 4th and 5th respectively. The start times will be from 12 til 5pm for the Monticello 1/2 mile and 2pm til 7pm on Monday for the Vernon Mile. Licensed AMA GNC Twins riders, Basic Expert Twins riders and pro- sports are eligible. Both days are open & free for the public. Go to www.nydirttrack.com for more info on these events and the upcoming Vernon NY, AMA GNC Flat Track on May 31st. All the factory teams, Harley, Aprilia, Suzuki, Kawasaki & Yamaha will take the opportunity to test their machinery before round 1 of the AMA GNC Twins championship. Both venues offer excellent seating, dining & video gaming machines.

Both Monticello and Vernon cushion race tracks are welcoming the AMA Flat Track series back with open arms. Monticello said that it dated back to 1984 when they hosted a closed circuit TV boxing match was the last time they have had a capacity crowd like the motorcycle race brought here. Things are looking great for 2008 and we are proud to be able to bring two nationals to New York state so check your calendars and we will see everyone there.
